We’ve had the keys for 2 years. Massive amounts of progress but still a frustratingly long way off officially moving in!
Let’s start with the Glasshouse – completing the wooden structure, doing the leadwork and making a start on the glazing:
Then, actually using it – completing the path, planting the grape vines (thanks Lois), planting up lots of flowers and shrubs and finishing the removal of the central bed:
Tony worked his stone-walling magic by the new entrance and around Rex room (including help from Mum to create the curved flower bed):
Next up a mammoth Easter weekend in blazing sunshine saw the paths and edging make great progress, as well as a start on the seating area:
The summerhouse was another big project to make strides forward:
Mum also made a start on the very overgrown flower garden, creating a nursery by the summerhouse for the rescued flowers!
With Dave returning for a week progress continued on the roof – we are now so close to finishing it – and Mike finished pointing the skews and finished the first new piece of guttering:
The garden started to come alive with the daffodils out in full bloom and the cherry blossom getting better by the day. We also created the start of our very own wild meadow, installed the arches in the main walled garden, not to mention hours of weeding (thanks Mum!) and many barrow-loads of manure spreading!
Not a place to be for those scared of heights, but the view from the scaffold is particularly impressive:
And other jobs included working on the area by the new driveway, drilling the metal beams in the main house and laying a temporary floor to allow the window fitters to complete their job, starting to drop the scaffold following yet more limewashing and removing more render for the new driveway:
And after all that, we all needed a bit of a break:
